A: Generally short messed-up style. Different shapes of short trimmed beards and moustaches are back.
Q: My hair is very fine , should I keep it longish or short?
A: Well, it depends on your head shape and size, your face features and the degree of hair thinness. Fine hair can be tricky for hairdressers to deal with. Only experienced men's hairdresser with certain cutting techniques and skills can deal with this type of men's hair successfully.
Q: I have very thick hair, should I keep it long or short?
A: Again, it depends on your head shape and size, your face features and the degree of hair thickness. Thick hair can be easier for hairdressers and barbers to deal with than thin hair in terms of the different freestyle cutting techniques that can be used on thick hair.
Q: My hair is thinning on top but I still like to wear it in a ponytail. I was told it would look much better if I get it cut shorter and get rid of the ponytail. What Harley's grooming experts think?
A: First of all you have to consider hair treatments for your thinning hair before losing more or all of that thinning hair. Secondly, when hair is thinning on top whether from the crown , hairline or the whole area in between ,it is highly recommended to keep the sides and the back reasonably short and tidy. Ponytail for a thinning hair on top or balding head is a NO NO.
Q: My wife says I have beautiful dark long hair (down to my shoulders) but she always tells me it would look much better if it was a bit shorter to match my 5.6 feet height, does she make sense?
A: Actually she does! Too long hair on men who are less than 6 feet tall does not look attractive. You can still have some length but it would look great if you get it cut nicely around your neckline and above your collar.
Q: My boyfriend has very long hair and I like it but he's had it long for few years now and I think its time for change. When I suggest that he should get it cut short he gets upset. How can I make him change his mind?
A: Most men who have had their hair long for a long time usually get used to it that way. The longer the time they have had their hair long the harder it gets for them to get it cut short. Some men who have had their hair long for long time actually start to believe that getting their hair cut short would mean losing their "good looks" or losing something very valuable that can not happen again! Therefore, changing this mentality can start with something like:" Get it short for a change, it will always grow back"
Q: My husband is bald and he prefers to shave his hair because he thinks it looks better shaved. I don’t mind it, but sometimes I think keeping some hair on the sides and the back can still look nice! He doesn't agree with me though. What Harleys men's grooming experts think?
A: Yes. Bald men can still look good and attractive when the sides and back of the head are full of hair (reasonably short, depends on hair type) especially when it's trimmed nicely and shaped regularly (every 4-6 weeks)
Q:I have been shaving my hair with razor for the past 7 years (skin) as I couldn't face the fact that I was balding and my hair was gone. I've decided to grow it back after I read your "Grooming tips". I feel good and my wife is very happy now that I have some hair she can grab! How long my sideburns should be?
A: The length of sideburns should go with the length of your face/ head. If you have longer head / face, you would look good with longer sideburns (taller, down to earlobes or above it) and keep them trimmed. If you have a small or short head/face , shorter sideburns would suit you better (just above the middle of your ear) and keep them trimmed.
Q: What do Harley's grooming experts think of the pills and other hair treatments available in the markets that claim to regrow hair and treat baldness and hair thinness, any recommendations?
A: The results of taking these treatments and pills, regardless of their brands, vary depending on the recipient's natural body reaction to these treatments. There were two cases of two balding gentlemen who decided to take the same hair treatment (certain brand of well-known pills taken daily). Both gentlemen started the treatment together at the same time and Harley's grooming experts observed and studied the case for over two years. One of two gentlemen had a very remarkable improvement and his hair started to look thicker, darker and fuller noticeably after only three months so he decided to keep taking these pills .The other gentleman didn't have any improvement at all even though he kept taking these pills for over 8 months, after that he decided to stop taking these pills and started taking other type of pills ( other brand) but he didn't have any improvement what so ever, he actually lost more hair!
Q: I am bald and I have tried different hair treatments and pills to regrow my hair but I didn't get any result. I have been considering the transplant surgery but I am hesitant to go for it. I would like to ask Harleys grooming experts what they think about hair transplant, would it solve the problem?
A: Before going for the hair transplant option you MUST consider the following important points:
1. The size of the balding area that you would like to be "planted". Is it going to be fully covered with hair so that it would look natural or there would be still balding areas around that would be hard to treat now or in the future.
2. The thickness of the "donor" area (where hair is taken from). Is it thick and hair rich enough so that scars can't be easily seen or noticed in the future.
3. Possible further balding in the future to occur in the surrounding areas of the already planted area ,and that can create more problems and image distortion of hair and scalp.
4. The surgeon's skill and experience in hair transplant. Some surgeons are good in the hairline area while others are good in the top , middle and other head and face areas.
Q: My partner grew a goatee last 'Movember' for the first time and I thought he looked so sexy at first but few days later the goatee looked different and untidy! Why was that?
A: Men who would like to grew good –looking and tidy Goatees, beards or moustaches must remember that looking sharp with facial hair means trimming and shaping the beard, goatee or moustache should be done on a daily basis. Trimming and shaping facial hair can take some time before getting used to making it look perfect and balanced. Moreover, one must know his face features and the direction of his facial hair in order to get the perfect facial hair shape that suits him. Your partner either missed the shaping process he did at first, which matched his face features and looked good, or he missed the trimming process (the certain length) he kept then. Men's facial hair, whether it is a goatee , moustache or beard, can look really good when it's done well and taken care of.
Q: Every time I shave I get pimples, could it be because of bad shaving habits?
A: It could be. The razor has to always go with the direction of the hair and not in the opposite direction especially on a sensitive skin. The razor also has to be held, placed and moved gently on the skin. It is a very good idea to give your skin a break on the weekend without a shave for couple of days.
